Environmental Attributes of Wild versus Farmed Tuna: Beliefs, Knowledge and Purchasing Choices of Italian Consumers of Canned Tuna

The study investigates the perception of environmental sustainability wild-caught versus farm-raised tuna production among a sample Italian consumers. Awareness, concern, knowledge and beliefs related to impacts wild farmed tuna, attention given attributes when purchasing canned are tested for significance based on socio-demographic characteristics individuals. results show that respondents aware concerned about challenges in fish production, but more than half has no or little both sources production. They indicate terms by-catch, marine ecosystems species reproduction source; source, issues feeding risk virus reported. Most believe source greater impact Plastic contamination, separate waste collection air emissions other mostly consider. Finally, minimal is paid method ignored.
